Mastodon

When Elon bought Twitter I was hoping that his brilliance will be able to improve the service and improve the experience for everyone. But unfortunately his hubris and crass attitude, especially with the way he handled the layoffs, turned me off and made me rethink where I should spend my time.

Enter Mastodon. It's a distributed and federated system that allows anyone to write posts ala twitter, with the culture and background different enough so as not to called Twitter v2.

I have been there for more than a week now (even though I have originally joined in 2017, apparently) and my experience thus far is better due to less ads, dark patterns that sucks you into doomscrolling, and a lot less trolls. It has been an enjoyable week which reminded me of the early Twitter days.
